What are side hinged garage doors?

Unlike tilting, sectional or roll-up garage doors, this door model does not open vertically but simply, on the side. An undeniable advantage when you want to use the garage ceiling as a storage space or for construction reasons such as the roof slope, reduced lintel or annoying drainpipes. Many people choose side hinged doors because they’re reliable, easy to maintain and strong, however, there are different types of garage door doors available depending on the opening mode.

• Sliding garage doors: Those that slide down the wall.
• Folding garage doors: They can be inwards or outwards.
• Sectional garage doors: Those that open up and slide through the roof.
• Rolling garage doors: They act like the house shutters, rolling up but are made of a more resistant material.
• Tilting garage doors: Tilting up, half in and half out.
• Folding garage doors: With two leaves joined by a hinge those folds up joining at the top.

The materials from which the garage doors are manufactured are diverse, wood, steel, aluminum, plastic materials, etc. Wood was used earlier, but today steel is more resistant and is used in most cases.

As for plastics, although they are tough and lightweight garage doors, they tend to have problems with heat.

The opening of the garage door

The type of garage door opening depends on the characteristics of the garage door. It is necessary to be practical in this aspect, since what matters most is that the car comfortably fits according to the measurements of the garage (in the case that you reside in a single-family home) or that the opening of the garage door is the most comfortable for the maneuverability of the cars of all the neighbors (if the garage door corresponds to a community of owners).

Sliding doors

Sliding sectional doors save space in any type of garage, as they open laterally and are hidden in the wall of it. There are radio frequency controls for access to the interior or exterior that moves the garage door and even lights or devices that are planned to be used for greater safety. Of course the ant pinch system, both internal and external, is one of the norms of this type of garage doors, with this the security is guaranteed, preventing injuries from entrapment.

These garage doors allow the passage of pedestrians and motorcycles by adjusting them previously, preventing them from opening completely, allowing the opening / closing system to be faster.
There are other advantages with this garage door, depending on the needs of the person, such as locking the door, changing the opening and closing speed, variable LED lighting through the remote control, etc.

Tilting doors

This is a system for opening vertical garage doors, based on the pulley and bar system. There are two classes mainly:

1. Tilting by springs, which also have several security systems by which although one of the springs is broken, the door does not close abruptly.
2. Balancing by counterweights, in which the springs are replaced by iron, steel and concrete weights.

This system of garage door opening is one of the most indicated in case it was already built, with manual opening.

With the swinging door, the interior space of the garage is used as it is suspended horizontally from the ceiling, leaving the sides of the garage free during the opening or closing process, open and closed. It is the garage door of the neighborhood communities.
